Toronto, ON – East Coast Music Award nominees Idlers are set to hit the road November 6th kicking off tour of Eastern and Central Canada in support of their new album Keep Out. The eleven-piece Newfoundland based band continues to push the boundaries of reggae, ska and afro beat on Keep Out set to hit stores November 10, 2009. Produced by Darryl Jenifer, the bassist for Bad Brains and producer for Bedouin Soundclash, the band headed to New York to record this latest effort at Dreamland Studios.
Since forming in 2006 the band have been known to create a dancing frenzy among audiences while performing their live "reggae circus". Lead by vocalist and trumpet player Mark Wilson who fronts a solid rhythm section, heavy horns and tight harmonies, Idlers know the way to an audience’s heart is through their feet.
“We’re very proud of this new record and we can’t wait to take it on the road,” says Wilson. “Working with Darryl really brought out the best in us and we hope our fans love it as much as we do!”
On the last leg of the tour the band will travel through Halifax and their hometown of St. John’s where they will be joined by English Beat, new wave,/ska/reggae band - a combination that is sure to delight fans of both acts. Idlers have gained a loyal live following that is constantly growing and appreciate and idolize their fans in turn. Though much of the inspiration for their music can be attributed to mid-70's roots reggae, a touch of their native Atlantic style gives them a sound that is authentically Canadian and truly all their own.
