    Feb 26, 2009 Release of Holly's Song.. March 2nd, 2009

Permalink 02:27:49 pm, Categories: Journal, 111 words   English (CA)

My new single, Holly's Song, will finally be released on March 2nd, 2009. Press Releases are all set to go out. This project is near and dear to my heart as it is in support of Toronto Sick Kids Hospital Research for Neurological Birth Diseases in Children. I have completed this project in the name of my darling special Friend, Holly Taylor, who suffers from the very rare Schizencephaly, and all my other "Special Friends" I have been so fortunate to meet.

Help us support Toronto Sick Kids Hospital and order a copy of my single.. details will be available on my website at www.alyshabrooke.com

    Thanks and God Bless

    Alysha

Feb 03, 2009 Show news and New EP Release

Permalink 04:35:03 pm, Categories: News & Journal, 536 words   English (CA)

    Howdy folks,

It's been quite a hectic week in the FTHW camp, so I'll just get right down to business. For those who haven't gotten in touch in regards to tickets for Friday, there are a very few left, and you can reserve yours at fthwmusic@yahoo.ca. Be aware, they are jackin' up the price at the door, so it is really worth your while to get them from us. This should be a really great show (Quiet Ritual, Torcher, Life Like Rockets, After The Invasion), and in addition to five great bands, it will be the release of the "Play Hooky" EP. It will be available at our merch table along wtih the debut EP, "Gagner Getaway".

What's that you say? "Scarfo, I can't make it Friday, it's a joint party for my grandson's 1st birthday and my 29th!" (Okay, maybe that's only an excuse where I come from - Oshawa)*. While we are greatly disappointed that you would choose your family over us, never fear, the songs will be available online shortly. As with the "Gagner Getaway", we will be releasing it online one song at a time every two weeks. The first tune, "Fall Away", will be released online next Tuesday, 10 February, 2009. For details and lyrics, all info can be found on the message board at www.forthehardway.com under the thread, "Play Hooky". In the meantime, the track listing appears below:

    1. Fall Away
    2. Just Askin'
    3. Crutch
    4. You Turn
    5. The Way (Acoustic, live at the jam hall)

Again a reminder, make it out to the show and you can get the CD as well as hear it live before anyone else! Another note on shows, if you're in town, check out The Vinyl Revival and SEXDWARF at the Legion in Waterloo on the Saturday night .. you might recognize a face or three.

We're still plugging away at new stuff and getting into a writing/booking cycle again, so look out, the third EP is already in the writing stages ... and the top 3 suggestions for the name of the third EP are:

    3. For The Hard Way - Bed a Sasquatch. (The story behind this is hilarious ... feel free to ask either myself or Ian Park of Snatch.)

    2. For The Hard Way - In The Face

    1. For The Hard Way - Dark Side of the Moon (Okay, I'm lying about that one)

And as always, the three things I've learned this week:

    1. Steve-o has now found a new bowling hero in Stroker.
1a. Apparently bowlers can be heroes.
1b. Steve-o needs to rethink his evaluation process for role models.

    2. The most efficent way of getting as much cake into your mouth as possible is the chop/shove method. Messy, but efficient.

    3. Tommy actually thought we would stop picking on him after a year. Stupid sophomore.

    -Scarfo

*Note: For those who were offended by a teen pregnancy joke ("Scarfo, that's not funny!"), I encourage you to spend some time in Oshawa as teen pregnancy is not a joke there. It is merely the breakfast of champions.**
**Note: I was born and raised in Oshawa, I'm allowed to make jokes.***
***Note: If that still isn't enough, feel free to explain why at Johnny B Club on the 10th of March.
