Howdy folks,
Another crazy week in the FTHW camp, and as always, here is the news ...
Firstly, a show announcement! I know that we had said that we were going to take October off, but we have lots of good intentions that never come to fruition. A week from this Friday, October 10th, 2008, we will be playing back at the Circus Room. Normally we like to have all of the information for you right away, but it seems that details are a little foggy right now. Check back in later in the week to see the full bill, but what we know for sure right now is that we will be playing, cover will be $5 and the show will get started around 9:30pm.
In terms of the recording process, it has turned into quite a success. We have learned tons more abut the program even since we recorded Beige (free for download, do it!!!) and the sound is really coming together. As of today, we have all of the bed tracks done for all three remaining songs on the Gagner Getaway EP. All that is really left is mixing, mastering and a few optional tracks. For the song, "The Way" we are aiming to get much more of a group feel for the "hey" part, and so we've been having people down to do extra layers of "heys". A special thanks to Deion, Josh and Steve-O for not being afraid to sound silly and scream "Hey" a bunch of times in a room by themselves, it sounds great guys! On that note, if you are a fan of FTHW, are in the Kitchener area and would like to do some 'heys' for the gagner getaway EP, either talk to one of the guys in the band, or drop us a line at fthwmusic@yahoo.ca.
We're getting into the beginning of crunch time for promotion, as with the EP being close to done and the blitz of shows we are trying to get together for the end of the year approaches we're trying to make quite an impression in a couple of areas. For any facebook users, we ask that you go to http://apps.new.facebook.com/ilike/artist/For+The+Hard+Way and click on the 'ilike' icon for Beige, both song and video. Once again, Beige is totally downloadable, so don't be afraid to throw it on your mp3 player, or on a cd, or on whatever it is you use to listen to music. Also, if you have some spare time on the net, we'd appreciate a couple of votes at the bonxo website. Just click on www.bonxo.com/forthehardway and beside beige, please click on 'vote'. We're already in the top ten (as of this afternoon) and looking to climb.
A special thanks to everyone who got involved in the 'top 5 albums' discussion last week on the message board at www.forthehardway.com. This week's topic is 'Top 5 movies'. Go on to the message board to check out our picks, (yes, Euro actually chose "Rad") and add yours in.
After all that imposing upon your time, I'll leave you with the 3 things that I've learned this week:
1. KP does not know how to haggle.
2. Any track on a recording on it's own sounds ridiculous, but especially so with vocals. The key to amazing humour is not to watch Stroker record his vocals, but to watch Euro watch Stroker record his vocals.
3. If we rally together we just might be able to make this thing work. Thanks again for your support, jerks:)

Howdy folks,
Another week in the FTHW camp, and we are busy as ever! As you may know from the last couple of weeks on the blog, we are in a recording cycle at the moment. Since the last time that I was able to communicate to you, we have been able to finish all of the instrumental tracks for "Do it to Julia" and "The Way". Vocals will be coming soon, as it is likely that tomorrow night we'll be heading up to get those all sewn up.
As for live shows, we are getting some things together for November, and as soon as we have anything solid, we will be sure to let you guys know. We intend to hit things pretty hard on the back end of the year and we are hoping to branch out to some areas outside of Kitchener.
Also, we're starting a new feature on www.forthehardway.com. Each week, the boys in the band will be doing a 'Top 5' list on a different topic in the message board area. This week we are doing our "Top 5 Albums that everyone should own ...". We'd love to hear your thoughts on our picks, or just throw a list of your own up there. We'd love the opportunity to prove that the art of discussion and debate is not lost!
Just before I make my way, a reminder to check out the message board, sign up for the mailing list and just keep being so damn cool!
And now, the infamous 3 things that I've learned this week:
1. Voltaire (the author) is wickedly funny.
2. Take two is truly the key take.
3. "It can't hurt" translates to: "Do it again, asshole".

Hey folks,
Another crazy week in the FTHW camp both in and out of the jam hall. Firstly, on a personal note, I wanna thank the boys in the band as well as Ian and Rich for comin' down to celebrate my birthday. There were 6 guys, 38 bottles of beer, 1 mini keg and 208 and limos. What a blast!
Back on to FTHW news, the ghost tracks as well as the drum tracks have now been recorded for "The Way" and "Do it to Julia". This week we're hoping to polish off the instrumental tracks as best we can. On the show front, we're still in break mode, getting these tracks down, but we have been speaking with some really exciting bands that we are looking to play with in the later part of October as well as in November.
And now, the famous three things that I've learned this week:
1. People can get very excited and very competitive when it comes to counting limos. That's right, 208 limos!
2. Five guys can waste a combined 60 manhours in one day watching an entire season of TV. Oh Dexter, how you sliced and diced our Sunday.
3. Getting older does not necessarily mean growing up. I refuse to grow up and I thank anyone who fights the good fight with me!

Hey folks,
Can you believe that I'm actually doing this on a Tuesday?? Scary, isn't it? Okay, a few quick notes that all end up being good news for you guys. As of the posting of this blog, we have made "Beige" available for free legal download! You can find it at www.myspace.com/forthehardway. Take it, download, throw it on your iPod, tell your friends, tell them to download it and put it on their iPods. The important thing is that Beige gets out there.
Another reminder to join us for "Attack of the Killer Bands" this Saturday at the Lanc. Aside from another FTHW performance, we are opening for three really great bands worth seeing. It's only 5 bucks, so come on out!! Unless a really great lineup comes our way, we'll probably be taking some time off from shows to finish recording the "Gagner Getaway EP" (pronounced Gag-ner. Not french for "win"), so come see us before we take a bit of a break.
Don't forget to sign up for the official Mailing List at http://forthehardway.fanbridge.com ...
And now the 3 things that I've learned this week:
1. Steeles Avenue is overrated.
2. People never stop getting married. It tends to interfere with business.
3. Executives aren't just made up characatures, they actually exist and do use words like "synergy" and "benchmark".
