    Cinematic Rock

    Toronto, Ontario, Canada
    member since: Mar 17, 2005

    Biography

Once upon a time, disparate souls converged over a kindred musical spirit and 5th Projekt materialized with their offering of Neo-classical Romanticism, otherwise dubbed ‘cinematic rock’. Their swirly, emotive rock soundscapes lay somewhere between Radiohead and Portishead, all the while sustaining a distinct signature sound.

It was a deep interest in the effects of cycles and in the ways human individual rhythms interact with nature that ignited 5th PROJEKT's debut album CiRCADiAN. Recorded at Toronto's Chemical Sound with James Heidebrecht (Daniel Lanois, Sarah Slean, Sloan) and mixed by Ken Andrews (Failure, A Perfect Circle, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club), the album takes on the themes of balance and discovery.

The journey begins "In A Coma," setting the pace for the dreamlike lyrical exploration and the atmospheric compositions that characterize the album. The goal of the album is to capture humanity in all its diverse facets. The images that the music invokes are as various as the individuals who listen.

Collectively, the members of 5th PROJEKT share a musical sensibility that has resulted in numerous music award nominations, invitations to showcase at festivals, television appearances, live bookings, press coverage and radio play. 5th PROJEKT’s tour for the release of ‘CiRCADiAN’ included such notable shows as the Music for MS Fundraiser at the El Mocambo, the Ontario Independent Music Awards at the Phoenix, the Harry Potter book release party at Casa Loma and the Speak Up Film Festival Gala. 5th PROJEKT has also showcased live at CMW, NXNE and Toronto Indie Week.

The band is currently working on an upcoming release and tour scheduled for 2010.
