  • @Mobute (not trying to bombard you twitter just stretches 1 idea out - I like your article & don't disagree w/ nerdcore points in it!)

  • @Mobute because of course before NY decided to go Gambino, like 75% of all rap was about cartoons, commercials, pop culture ephemera

  • @Mobute like the people I know who rap the most about retro gaming & cartoons are not white and do not come from privileged backgrounds.

  • @Mobute white nerdcore has the same racism problems as other white rap, and white culture in general, but part of that has been "nerd=white"

    Introduction

Rap Legend Jesse Dangerously grew up and cut his hip-hop teeth in Halifax, Nova Scotia under the auspices and tutelage of such scene vets as Buck 65, Sixtoo and Jorun Bombay. His style is informed principally by golden era (87-94) hip-hop, secondarily by the indie rap explosion of the late 90s, tertiarily by everything else in the world. Sometimes he is lumped in with the "Nerdcore" rap "movement" which is his own fault for being such a geek, but don't think for one second he's the kind of geek who won't absolutely tear the club down with blazing rhyme styles and beats that go bump in the night.

He has also won all kinds of awards and critics love him but since he is writing this himself in the third person, it makes him bashful to type all that out so you could maybe Google it or something.
